Barack Obama has inspired some great well-designed images. These are some of my favorites, plucked out of the many crude caricatures on the web.
This image was actually used as a campaign poster, but also available as a limited edition print on the candidate and artist’s websites. The style might look familiar because it was made by Shepard Fairey, the creator of the Andre the giant-Obey images that were scattered across the back streets of cities everywhere. The Obey project began as an artist’s commentary on the visual propaganda of corporate America. The image was widespread and free, selling nothing but a social statement. However, the image now sells t-shirts for a popular clothing company, too. Obey itself has gone corporate.
Perhaps, in part, to help restore his dissident mystic, Fairley writes, in a brief message on Obama’s website, “I believe with great conviction that Barack Obama should be the next President.” And, then dedicates the sales to the campaign.
The best images seem to come from within the hip hop community. Anyway, if you happen by one of these posters, grab ‘em up. They are already out of print and sold out everywhere.

Mrs. Chickadee has been holed up four days! Mr. Chickadee drops by every morning and evening. I think we’re waiting for eggs to hatch. I feel like I’ve been in the maternity ward waiting room for four days.
