**Visual Literacy: Students are introduced to ways of understanding visual images in a variety

of contexts: art, media (including film, photography, graphic design), and drawing. Students

learn about aesthetics and production aspects of visual images; they discover intuitive

dimensions of seeing as well as the major influence of culture on visual symbols and constructs.

**Avid Editing Practicum: An intro to the AVID non-linear editing system.

**FCP Editing Practicum: An intro to Final Cut Pro’s (5, 7 & X) non-linear editing system.

**Advanced Video Production: Qualified students work as a team to produce a high quality short video.

Media Composition: Students develop advanced skills in sound and video composition and

produce their own short documentary films using Final Cut Pro.

**Media Rhetoric and Aesthetics: Builds upon the aesthetic considerations and rhetorical

strategies explored in previous core courses, with particular reference to visual communication.

The lecture section emphasizes the conventions of practical aesthetics employed by professionals

in mass media.

Responsible for administrative and technical assistance of major international documentary

film festival; Constructed technical grid used by all SD Conference staff for implementation of

festival; Recruited/managed team of 23 volunteers consisting of videographers, editors, and

production assistants; Post produced the daily video segments and pod casts which can be

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER: 2007-2008

    “Total Wrecklamation” - Big Fish Entertainment, Discovery’s Green Planet Channel

Production, Washington, DC - Researched topics related to show content, drafted and

edited scripts. In contact with over 22 municipalities in the greater Chicago by submitting

Freedom of Information Act Requests looking for appropriate venues. Ordered equipment,

coordinated travel arrangements, processed invoices and maintained records; Assisted in

deliverables to Discovery's HQ.

    “Rookies” - Tiger Aspect USA, A&E

Field Production, New Orleans, LA/Post Production, New York, NY In the field -

managed a ten-person crew consisting of videographers, sound and production assistants;

Responsible for equipment rentals, inventory and upkeep; Maintained tape/media library;

Procured releases from talent and general public; Acted as liaison between Jefferson

Parish Sheriff's Dept. and NY office; Stills photographer.
