Christmas Tour Of Homes ... Blog Style!
Christmas day will be here before I know it! And I just don’t have it very together this year ... for whatever reason. I was able to finally get the tree decorated yesterday ... major accomplishment! If I had not been motivated by BooMama’s Tour of Homes I may have procrastinated another day. Usually by this time each year I have two, maybe three gifts, left to run out and buy. But not this year. This year I have almost all of my gifts to run out and buy! Yeah, it’s gonna be a crazy week ... I can feel it. I took the liberty of staying out of the malls with all the weekend shoppers and figured I’d hit the stores first thing tomorrow when everyone else goes to work for the day. Of course it is 2:30 a.m. as I write this blog so I’m not real sure what time “first thing” in the morning will really be. While hanging close to home I made good use of my time by getting my house all in order and doing a little holiday baking. Don’t let that fool you. I still have loads more to do. My “girlfriends” and I had our annual Christmas luncheon on Friday and I want to post a little thing I made for them but it will have to wait. I’m going to devote this blog entry to the Christmas Tour of Homes! Hopefully I can get back here again sometime before Christmas with another entry of fun stuff. So on with the tour folks!

If you read my blog when BooMama did the “soup-tacular” then you will figure out this works the same way. I encourage you to jump over to her site and check out all the blogs that have posted links. I’m sure you will see some Christmas decorating like you’ve probably never seen before! There should be some scrump-dilly-umpous recipes to add some flavor to your tour.

Christmas at our house
I’m going to briefly describe each picture as you tour through our house. I hope you enjoy your visit. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and A Happy 2008 to all!

Of course, the bushes on the right side of the house were not lit when I went outside to take this picture tonight. But they were plugged in however .... considering it was like midnight, I didn’t think it was a good idea to wake my SO and send him outside in the cold to figure out why! Look closely so you can see the snowflakes hanging across the porch eves. They were one of my new purchases this year. Cheap, dirt cheap ... but I love how they look. The next picture is a close up shot of one against the night sky. I love ‘em, love ‘em, love ‘em!

When you come in our back door you are facing the living room doors which open into the front foyer where I always hang snowflakes on the glass .... and this year I found some garland to compliment it. Jury is still out on whether I’m liking that part or not. I left the exposure dark so you could hopefully see the glitter and shine of those snowflakes!

Next we have another of my most favorite things. I picked up this guy at an after Christmas sale a few years ago. He’s about three feet tall and just as cute as can be! The tray in his hands can hold all kinds of Christmas goodies ... from candy canes to fresh baked cookies!

Our den and our kitchen are sorta like one big huge room ... divided only by a railing with two steps down into the den. Several years ago I saw this idea in a magazine but couldn’t find the tin to make the stars so I substituted cheap aluminum foil cookie sheets. I designed a different star for each member of our family and they hang over the railing from the ceiling in the kitchen. Again, one of my favorite traditions is hanging these stars each year. In the next picture you can see them as they look in the room.

The den is a room I absolutely love when it’s all decked out for Christmas. The triangle window in the brick fireplace makes an interesting place to put the star. And then there is the Tree! We have always had a real tree. My whole life ... it’s just the way it’s been.

We are lovers of the beach. For years we’ve always used a starfish as our “star” on the top of our tree. This year I dressed it up a little and painted it gold and added the center piece with beads to accent. I have plans for even more improvements next year. Fact is, I love using the starfish as our tree top “star”.

This pretty much completes the tour of our house! NOW, let me wind this up so I can skip on over to BooMama’s and check out some of this year’s tour myself!
