“Blizzard” 2008

Ok, for those of  you that live in Atlanta, you probably get the humor in my title.  For those of you outside of the city, we got about 1/1000 of an inch of snow and all events within the metro area were cancelled for three months.  Our first “dusting” came through on a Wednesday afternoon, and I ordered Kevin to leave work so that we could take Mallory and Taylor out into the “shnowe? shnowe? shnowe? shnowe?” as they called it.  They threw complete temper tantrums when they were informed that they were getting too cold and it was time to go back inside.  It was the “my legs are refusing to hold my own weight” kind of tantrum.  Awesome.  Then luckily, three days later, Saturday brought us about 2 inches of snow, which is pretty significant for anything south of the Mason-Dixon line if you ask me.  Mallory and Taylor helped to build twin snowmen and Mallory broke a Guinness record by holding a snowball in her hand (glove-less, mind you) for at least 20 minutes.  We could have been responsible parents, and put gloves on the poor child, but then it wouldn’t be a world record, now would it???  Taylor found it extremely amusing when Kevin would throw a snowball high into the air and let it splat in front of him.  And by the end of the afternoon, was more interested in the different shaped sticks in the yard, as opposed to the snow that will only come once every five years.  We finished up the snowmen (even had REAL carrots in the house!) with Hawaiian leis, to which Kevin proclaimed “only you and your mother would put leis on a snowman”.  (Sorry mom, if that’s offensive, but I took it as a compliment!)
