Next year... one Christmas... that’s right ... ONE.

I really love Christmas.  I love everything building up to Christmas, I love listening to Christmas songs BEFORE Thanksgiving, I love Christmas shopping in busy stores, I love crowded Christmas Eve church services... I love it all.  But this year... WHEW... this year was tough.  Between Kevin and my “blended” families (I think that’s the more “pc” term than.... well, nevermind.)... we had SIX Christmas family event obligations.  Luckily, Christmas fell on a Tuesday, and the festivities were spread over 3 days.  (But FOUR were all on one day.)  We’re not exactly Nazi-regimented when it comes to scheduling our babies, but having to do multiple “Cobb County Tour of Homes” will really mess up a schedule! Kevin and I were so exhausted after putting babies in car seats, taking babies out of car seats, trying to get babies to nap, putting babies in car seats, taking babies out of car seats, putting babies in car seats, taking babies out of car seats.  Kevin’s siblings have smartened up and moved half-way and completely across the country (DC and Seattle, respectively). Smart, smart, smart.... I bet they have ONE Christmas.  (Actually... one of them has five kids... so they obviously have many more bragging and complaining rights than we do.)  So, next year... we’ve decided to have ONE Christmas.  If you want to see us (and more importantly, the babies... since that’s really who you want to see anyway) then Christmas is at our house.  We’ll get back to you on the time.  And just as a heads up, the Christmas “practice run” will probably be on the babies’ 1st birthdays. Because... seriously... I refuse to do more than ONE of them, and it will be HERE... at OUR house. (To all who are reading thinking we’d do something at “your house” too... please take note...)

Ok, moving on.

As a semi-Christmas present to Mallory and Taylor, we bought them some sweet potatoes.  I want to eventually MAKE my own baby food, but since we were in a slight hurry, and had no idea how our “experiment” would work out - we just bought a tiny jar to start out with.  We put them in their Bebe pods, and they did great.  Of course, half of it had to be scraped off their faces with a spoon and re-directed back IN to their mouths, but all in all, I’d say it was a success.  Taylor thought it was funny to make raspberry noises with food in his mouth.  I think our laughter probably did nothing but encourage this behavior... so we’ll probably have to work on that next time. I’ll keep you posted of any table manners progress.
