The Portland Film + Video Artists Collective formed in July 2006. It is committed to the advancement of film and video as personal, experimental art forms through regional and international programming. Celebration and preservation of creative freedom is paramount in all actions. PFVAC has presented five events thus far, including: Dan Graham visiting artist talk (October 2007), PFVAC + SPACE: New Projections + Installations (September 2007), Portland - Syracuse One Take Super 8 Event with visiting artist Brett Kashmere (April 2007), Peter Gruner Shellenberger Retrospective (March 2007), and Premiere Showcase (October 2006). 006: PFVAC Fresh Works, a DVD compilation of film and video by PFVAC members is scheduled for March 2008 release.
From over seventy entries the Portland Film + Video Artists Collective curated a program of thirteen works that explore moving image duration with skill, daring, and innovation. An illustrated catalogue will complement the screening.
