On Tuesday, June 17, at 1:40 a.m., the Mississippi River breached the Lima Lakes levee at Meyer, IL, in Adams County, flooding 14,000 acres in Lima Lake Drainage District.  By Thursday, the flood waters had swallowed an additional 16,000 acres of farmland in the Hunt Drainage District, also known as the Warsaw Bottoms, in Hancock County.  Following the 1993 flood, only 9 families remain in the Warsaw Bottoms.  The river crested at approximately 26.8 feet on Thursday and as of Friday, was beginning to recede in some areas.

Ken Kashian spent Wednesday and Thursday in the Warsaw area.
