On May 16, the Bureau Valley Antique Club held it’s annual Spring Preview at the Harold and Margery Steele farm west of Dover, in Bureau County. Harold Steele
is a former President of the Illinois Farm Bureau. The Steele’s have been hosting
the show at their farm since 2001. They enjoy seeing the pleasure old implements can bring and educating the children.
As well as featuring Steele’s collection of antique farm equipment and a Port Huron steam engine, there were blacksmith demonstrations, stone grinding of flour, horse treadle corn shelling, water pumping, rope making and wood cutting.
The highlight of each Spring Preview show is the Armed Forces Day program.
This year’s program featured a soldier who has completed two tours of duty in Iraq.
