ParkLands Foundation owns and maintains more than 1600 acres of natural land in McLean and Woodford counties. ParkLands properties are areas designed to protect our native plant and animal communities. Without the Parklands Foundation, there would be few areas left in Central Illinois to see the landscape as it may have existed prior to European settlement.
Two of the preserved areas, the Merwin Nature Preserve near Gridley and the Lexington Preserve, also allow for passive recreation such as hiking, photography, and nature study.
The following images were taken at the Lexington preserve.
