Thoughtful Moments™ is a collection of Watercolor and
Calligraphy created by husband and wife artists, Gail & Ken Brown. They began combining their artwork in 1970.  She does the Watercolor, he does the Calligraphy.  Both are totally self-taught.

The original artworks are created on different sheets of paper and are on file for future publications so different messages in Calligraphy can be combined with the artwork.  The publishing process pairs the desired message with Gail’s artwork.

The changing selections that will appear here are available for the special price shown below the design.  Designs change every week or so.  You may order the print, BY TITLE, signed and dated by both Gail and Ken, and personalized for you or the person you designate.

The original painting was done on a sheet of 18” x 24” 140# watercolor paper.  A light wash was applied first.  Then the drawing of the elements, in light pencil, was added before painting began.  Gail uses a variety of watercolor brands.  Many of her brushes  have only a few hairs in them for the ultra-fine detail in her work.  Approximately 20 hours were devoted to the painting.

The Calligraphy was done by Ken Brown.  An OSMIROID reservoir pen and nibs were used for the Calligraphy.  Ken also authored the piece.  The Ken Brown dingbat and signature at the end of the verse merely indicate he did the Calligraphy.  Ken’s lettering  was done in black india ink on clay-coated paper and was completed in approximately 30 minutes.  The design was created in Hugo, Oklahoma, in March, 1984.

The reproduction, precisely true to the original art in all its detail, is on a heavy, smooth white commercial paper stock. #
