The Grassy Awards are for “Group Recognition: Acknowledgment of Superior Service” or GRASS Roots nominations by one docent/volunteer to another.
Nominators will remain anonymous. If you don’t want to e-mail and disclose your identity to me, put a written note in my mailbox in the Garden Gift Shop. No fancy forms or substance are necessary. To nominate someone, just jot down the reasons you want their peers to know about what they did for the Garden or for our group of Docents and Volunteers

Unfortunately, it was too late for us to book Joan Rivers to attend our ceremony with her microphone and red carpet. This year, the 2008 Grassy award winners may not receive Golden Statues, but we want to honor them all. I strongly encourage every active docent and volunteer to think about those others in our group who have made your own volunteer service so worthwhile. We can and should honor our fellow docents and volunteers whose service we recognize as outstanding. This is our chance to do so.
Eligibility: Any docent or volunteer who has been active during the specified period can nominate as many of their colleagues as they like who have provided outstanding service in two or more of the following categories during the period 7/1/07 through 6/30/08:
•Event Support - at Public and Special Garden Events
•Kiosk - Staffing the Information Kiosk for half-day shifts on Saturdays and Sundays
•Tours - Leading guided tours - either Saturday or Sunday, or special group tours by appointment
•Speaker’s Bureau - public speaking about the Garden before other garden clubs and organizations
Deadline: Please submit nominations no later than August 30, 2008. Earlier nominations appreciated.
