If you’ve come to this page you may be interested in our church and it’s pastor, so here’s a bit about me:
I came to Christ in college and was “discipled” by Campus Crusade and The Navigators. Though I’m a seminary grad, no one has improved on those early lessons in following Christ, so “discipling” is a big deal to me.
I graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary with an M.Div. in 1986 and for eight years was an associate pastor in the P.C.A. - a great denomination with a solid hold on scripture and ministry. I accepted the call to this “interdenominational” church as its pastor about 12 years ago. Over the last twelve years I have become more convinced than ever of the historic evangelical faith as expressed through the tradition of the seminary I attended. In addition i have earned a D.Min. through Laud Haul, a distance learning seminary of the United Anglican church. I did this because of my great respect for the Reformed and Anglican tradition of evangelical leaders like J.I. Packer and John Stott. In another life, or a later life, I could make a good evangelical Anglican minister. Currently I’m working on a degree in Christian Philosophy and Apologetics through Trinity Seminary Newberg Indiana.
My wife, Grit, and I have been married for 34 years in August, and we have two grown daughters, Kendra and Miriam. They constitute the three loves of my life on earth. Our daughters have married fine young men and this year each will bless us with grandchildren - good timing huh?
I preach and teach from scripture with a “reformed” perspective, meaning from a Reformation understanding of the Word and the Gospel. I still believe that the Westminster Confessions and Catechisms are the best distillation of Biblical truth, and where embraced and applied the Anglican 39 Articles are quite adequate as well. That means I take the scripture to be completely trustworthy and i have a high view of God’s sovereignty over all. Jesus has made all the difference in my life, my family, and my work. I know I’m a sinner saved by grace, and that is at the heart of all my preaching and teaching - salvation by grace through faith alone in Christ alone. I’m His for the long haul.
