About Theresa Rector

In her full time career as an Occupational Therapist, Theresa Rector's empathetic nature and exceptional communication skills are great assets. These are the same attributes that have enabled Theresa to help people with dog training problems for more than 14 years. Theresa understands how to create motivation and speed in dogs of any breed. Her dogs successfully compete at the highest level in both flyball and agility.

In flyball, Theresa has had three Australian Kelpies run on Instant Replay's flyball teams, all of which ran under 4.0 seconds. Her 13-year-old Australian Cattle Dog also ran under 4.0 seconds in her younger years. Although she is no longer running flyball, one of Theresa’s Australian Kelpies, Phoenix, was a member of Instant Replay’s A team when they ran a time of 15.42 seconds. Her younger dog, Novel, has a best time of 3.82 seconds, and is consistently running in the 3.9’s.

In agility Theresa has proven herself as a trainer willing to challenge herself and traditional training methods in order to make the sport of agility better for both dogs and handlers. Today she has two of the fastest dogs on the competition circuit in North America with Infiniti (aka Fin)  and her other Kelpie Phoenix. Theresa and Fin were chosen as members of the CKC Canadian Team to compete at the FCI World Agility Championships in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 and Phoenix was chosen in 2008 and as an alternate in 2010. She is currently working on training her young dog, Saxen and her new mixed breed, Teva.

In the past, Theresa has been an instructor for both Clean Run and Say Yes Camps and currently teaches Agility and Flyball seminars all over North America. Theresa's ability to analyze and improve upon a dog's performance in any sport is what makes her so popular with the students she works with.
