Squirrel 7, Kelly 2. Since when do squirrels like tomatoes this much?! The Furry Fiend got after five more precious jewels today, much to my chagrin. I wouldn’t care quite as much if he only took green tomatoes, but of course, those aren’t the ones that are tasty. And if he’s going to take ripening ones, he could at least have the courtesy not to knock green ones off the plants, too. Sheesh!
The evening’s activities included an unplanned trip to the hardware store for some chicken wire. However, it wasn’t until I got it home and unrolled it that I saw that the holes were about twice as big as any chicken wire I’ve ever seen. Oh well. It’s the best I could do on short notice and convenience. So both plants now sport fashionable chicken wire hoods. Anticipating more antics tomorrow, I made sure to attach both outfits to the railing so that the plants won’t get pulled over when the thief makes his next attempt. I sure hope this is the end of it.
It only seems appropriate, given the general inanity of this site, to document the Dastardly Squirrel Deeds on a separate photo page. On the positive side, I am becoming more and more familiar with iWeb and the iLife programs. Why, pretty soon, like when I’m finished with tomatoes, I may even try making my own custom page templates. So far, this all is what comes with the program.
