Once you have selected your template, this is what you will see. From here, you can insert pictures, sound clips, movies, podcasts, and text. I will go over the functions of the different icons and how they are used.
Saving: It is important to save frequently to keep preferences and protect your work.
Publishing: Once you are finished creating you can publish your site by going to File>Publish to folder or .mac depending on your preference. Here are the instructions for publishing to the district site.
Images: To add images and video, access your library through “Media”. Select the photos in your library or favorite albums. Click and drag these objects to you page.
Rotating Images: Once added, feel free to rotate the photo by holding the “Apple” key down and clicking on any corner of the photo. The picture will then rotate up to 360 degrees.
Copying images: If you would like multiple copies of a photo there is an easy way to do it. Click on the picture you would like to copy, press “Option” and drag to a new place on the page. This will create a duplicate with your preferences saved.
Masking: This feature will automatically crop an image, making it smaller in size and focusing on the main subject. You can do this in two ways: at the bottom of the iWeb window there is a mask icon. You can also select your photo and press Shift/Apple/M. Once the photo shows the mask window, you can increase or decrease the size of the crop by dragging any corner. Click anywhere on the page to set your changes. If you do not like the changes, press mask again at any time to return to the original. You may also use the “Undo” function under edit or press Apple/Z.
Transparency: This feature is useful to show change or just for the effect. You may also use this feature in layering. To fade a photo out select your photo, hit the blue inspector button at the bottom of the screen and select the graphic inspector (Square and Circle). At the bottom, there is a “Opacity” slide and you can adjust your photo there.
Background Color: If you want to change your page’s look and color. At the bottom of the screen there is a “Colors” icon. Pick any color you would like, It will appear next to a magnifying glass. You can grab and drag this color anywhere. Drop it on the page and the color will change, highlight text and do the same, even your shadow colors can be changed.
