Ok So Lets Look at the Basics
There are a few ways to get started on this.
You can make your own original tracks in garage band and then save them as a podcast... This is what I did, very simple.... Now I will go on for another ten pages, explaining in detail how simple it was... that should serve the point.
Step One: Open Garage Band
For those of you I have lost already: the Guitar Icon
Upon opening Garage Band you will face difficult choices: New Music Project, Podcast Episode, Movie Score, and existing project. I would suggest Podcast.
Tada, you are half way there....
Now again you face difficult choices; I will walk you through, don’t be scared. It is going to be OK.

On the lower right you will see your iPhoto library. Drag images up to the top bar and release them next to “Drag Artwork Here” These images will be visible when your podcast is played, adding information and a focal point to your latest episode.
Male/Female Voice: choose one and click on the red dot under the beginning of the word: this enables you to record.

Recording: At the base of this is a RED DOT next to a pair of scissors. This is the RECORD button. Press it to begin and stop recording. As you record you will see purple sound waves, this shows the length of your project.
To begin recording voice, first select the small recording dot underneath the male or female voice image. This tells Garage Band what kind of recording you plan on doing.
Once you press the larger record button again recording will stop. You can now move the entire recording by clicking and dragging it to where you would like.

Adding Sounds: Press the blue EYE to see the available sounds. Select from Jingles, stingers, or sound effects. You have the option of creating favorites as you go along. Once you have found a sound that you would like to include, grab the sound file and drag it to the jingle section of the recording studio. Again, you can move these to where you would like them to play by dragging them.

Adding Images: You can add images to be viewed as your podcast plays by dragging pictures to the section next to Podcast Track at the top of the recording studio.

Saving: File> Save: you will be asked to make an iweb preview, I suggest yes. This may be helpful later on.

Sharing: You have the option to send the podcast to itunes or iweb depending on your preference.

Good Luck.

Helpful Tips: When you review your podcast or try to record over previously laid tracks you will probably hear the sound while recording. To prevent this distraction you can press the mute button underneath each section so you will not be interrupted while recording.

Example: Underneath Jingles, there is a tool bar with: Record, mute, sole, lock, and volume. By pressing the mute key (which turns blue when in use) you will not hear those sounds while recording. Press the button again to un-mute the track and hear the full preview.
