Technology In Use
Here are some examples of how your fellow educators are using technology to enhance their teaching in the classroom. If you have any great ideas or suggestions, pass them on for all to share! I will also add links and examples of student work as the year goes on.

Net Trekker: Exploring Explorers
Students can research famous explorers using Net Trekker. Using the “Person” search feature of Net Trekker students are linked to teacher approved sites on their topics and given the option to see a timeline of events occurring during the lifetime of their person. This added bonus can offer information to explain how events affected explorers and what other discoveries and events were taking place at the same time!

Net Trekker for Beginners: Invention at Play
When Introducing a new tool and skill to young children, such as Net Trekker, I practice the skill of logging in and navigating to help them get the feel for the process. I found a good introduction site for the students is “Invention at Play”. This site has inventor oriented games to help students explore creating multiple solutions to simple problems and improving fine motor skills for the very young. The students really enjoy the game and become familiar with dragging, dropping, rotating, and navigating. This would be a good demo and a fun activity for free time.

To Find the Site using Net Trekker:
Log in (Be sure to be in Elementary Mode, Orange Bar at Top)
Science> Inventors and Inventions> Invention at Play #2 on List
Once on the site, on the left, there is a green box “Tinker Ball”.
