We were told this time of year was “great for bird life” (translation: don’t have high expectations of finding “the big animals” as their need to cluster at watering holes diminishes when food and water are plentiful throughout the region). Even so, they found us. Despite the early rains and proliferation of dense vegetation we stumbled across a wide variety of wildlife during our time in the bush. Three days of long trips in wooden “mokoros” (hand-carved, flat-bottomed canoes) and trekking on foot with our seasoned guide Jeremiah were followed by three days of Land Rover excursions which left our bums sore but senses sated. And what about our feathered-friends? Fabulous.
