Act

Act was the theme today and many people had the chance to act unlike themselves.  Roger was able to act like an astronaut while Pastor Keck and John were able to act like gladiators.  But as a group we also acted out Gods love for everyone.
During our first worship service we learned of a campaign called “Nothing But Nets.”  This campaign explained to us that every thirty seconds one child will die of malaria, and for ten dollars we could by a net to go around their beds which will help protect them from mosquitos while they sleep.  So during the service hundreds of people got out of their seats and headed toward the stage.  They were looking for the offering bowl where they could contribute, and if they couldn’t find that they would crumply their money into a ball and throw it onto a the stage.  From the back seats you could see hundreds of balls of money being thrown onto the stage.  It took about two minutes to walk down to the stage and ten dollars to help save a life.
As a youth group we also decided to reach out and help those in need.  John and I picked out two children for us as a group to sponsor.  We now sponsor a girl and a boy from the Philippines.  For 32 dollars a month we are able to provide clothing, food, and schooling for our sponsor children.  The best part about sponsoring these children is knowing that we are spreading God’s love to not only the child but their whole family and maybe even the community.
We can tell everyone we meet that we are a christian but that isn’t enough.  We need to show God’s love and the best way to do that is by showing the same love God has for us to others.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.
1 PETER 4:10
