Tulsa world: First Sweep Completed
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
“Crews completed the first debris collection sweep of the city over the weekend and began a second pass Monday.....
Crews working seven days a week are again moving from west to east.
Once the second collection sweep is complete, which should take a few weeks, a third one will begin.....
Through Sunday, 1,982,096 cubic yards of storm debris - or 43,000 truck loads - had been picked up. That is expected to reach 3 million cubic yards, an estimate that has been revised twice before.
‘There’s more than we ever expected to be out there,’ Crossland said.”
TFR has ground 100% of the hauled cubic yardage while operating and managing all the temporary reduction sites. Additionally, TFR is spearheading the recycling effort by utilizing the wood chips, reduced debris generated by the grinding of vegetation, as a soil additive to create a organically enriched topsoil. This topsoil shall be used to replant down trees and to beautify the Tulsa community.
TFR leads the debris reduction efforts with 7 Diamond Z Tub Grinders. With crews working 18 hour days, 7 days a week, TFR is on pace to grind 3 million cubic yards in just 150 days.
