The Vision Process

As many of you know by now, we have entered into the vision process as a congregation.  We are seeking to discern who God has called us to be and where God is calling us to go.  It is our goal to create opportunities for sharing our vision and listening to as many people as possible.  As such, the vision process is designed to maximize participation at every level of our congregation.

In addition to seeking the input of both the Congregational Council and Staff, we have also formed a “Vision Team” to help assist the vision process and to begin formulating a plan for the future.  The Vision Team members are: Jessica Ross, Sean Kenyon, Kathy Cothran, Vince Deleon, Mark Hinebaugh, Glenn Graybill, Maggie Graybill.  Please feel free to discuss any aspect of the vision or the vision process with any member of the team.

We have also developed an online GO! MAKE! vision website which has a great deal of information and features.  The vision website can accessed through the King of kings website www.koklc.org

Vision Plan for Congregational Communication and Involvement

Bible Study: We will study the central texts of the vision together to ground our thinking in scripture.  At each of our bible study sessions, notes will be taken and posted on the Vision bulletin board for public view.  We are also video taping each session so those unable to join us for the bible study can participate. We are working to upload these video to our church website.  In addition, after each session I will provide an update to my blog for further discussion.

The classes began on January 15 and run through February 7.  It is not too late to join us!

Sermon Series: We will provide teaching in worship about the vision to ground our vision in our congregation's worship life and prayer and to reach the largest possible group. The series will be in seven parts and run through the weekend of March 9th.

Individual Meetings: I will make myself available for individual appointments for anyone who would like to discuss the vision and mission of King of kings. Anyone who has questions, concerns, or would like to see how they can be part of the vision is encouraged to make an appointment with me for further discussion.  I will post individual office hours beginning the week of February 11th.

Group Meetings: In the next two months I will meet with as many groups and small groups as possible to share the vision and seek input and response.  Let me know directly if you would like to schedule a time for me to meet with your small group.

Open forums: After spending time sharing and listening to various individuals and groups, we will try to synthesize information and draft a vision document and plan. We will then invite the congregation to a public forum where we can present the vision and create opportunities for Q & A.  These forums will take place in early March, with dates to be determined.

After all of these steps have been completed, it is our goal to present a vision and plan for our future at our congregational meeting on March 16th.  This is an exciting time for our congregation and we need your help!  GO! MAKE! a difference!
