Finding Aids

Cleveland Colby Colgate Archives

Here is where I create and maintain the finding aids for Colby-Sawyer College. Some were legacy finding aids that I have updated to DACS/EAD and some are new.

Anthony Rhodes Papers

I created a DACS compliant finding aid for the Burns Library. It is available in html (select finding aid under URL) or as a pdf.

Thomas J. Carroll Papers

As part of another project for the Burns Library, I updated the original Thomas J. Carroll finding aid to make it DACS compliant and coded it using EAD. The finding aid is available on the web or can be viewed as an xml file.

Projects

archiveThing

Working with a classmate, I created a prototype for a nationwide archival social network system where the users are also the creators. archiveThing would allow users, including archival institutions and the general public,to upload their own archival material and share their materials with other users. This project was the final project for our XML class. We plan to continue our work on archiveThing when we have completed our work at Simmons. Visit the current site at http://www.archivething.com/.

Colby-Sawyer College Digital Archives

As part of my responsibilities as College Archivist at Colby-Sawyer College, I am in charge of creating and maintaining the Colby-Sawyer College Digital Archives. The goal of the digital archives is to increase access to archival materials held at Colby-Sawyer College and support the curriculum and research needs of its teachers.

MARC Records

An example of a MARC record that I created for my LIS 415 class. It is available as a pdf.

Olive Ruby Henty Digital Scrapbook

As part of a class project, my fellow classmates and I created an online digital library. I contributed to the project as a member of the environmental scan committee and the content committee. In addition to these responsibilities, I scanned pages one and two and created the descriptive and preservation metadata for these pages. Visit the scrapbook at http://gslis.simmons.edu/gsdl/Henty/orhmainpage.htm.

Wiki: Planning an Archival Move

Working with three classmates, I developed a wiki providing guidance on planning an archival move. I conducted an interview with a member of the field and, as a group, we researched best practices for an archival move. See the final product at http://gslis.simmons.edu/mw/CoPe/Main_Page.

XML Homepage

A website created for LIS 531F. I used this website to complete assignments and to practice my skills with CSS, XML, XHTML, XSLT, and XML schema. See the final product.

Records Management

This retention schedule was created for the Burns Library's exhibition records. The document is available as a pdf.

Finally, the paper analyzes what has been done so far and what the next steps are in development. This paper is available as a pdf.
