Roving Eye Boat Tours
Roving Eye Boat Tours
We are entering our thirteenth year in the under water tours of Scapa Flow. We use a Falcon ROV to send crisp and real time footage up to the monitors in the passenger boat Guide. There is a running commentary on the images as they appear from the archaeology of the now 90 year old wreck and all the wild life living on this man made reef.
* The ‘Guide” leaves Houton Pier in Orphir at 13:20 most days during the season, but please note that we also run a survey company which means we do not guarantee this trip and recommend that you book when you get to Orkney as we do not take advance bookings for this reason.
*Please arrive 15 minutes beforehand to board. Trip lasts approximately 3 hours and also includes a visit to the island of Hoy. Complimentary coffee or tea provided onboard.
* Fares: Adults £30. Under 12’s £15. The trip is not recommended for children under 4 years of age. For the comfort and safety of other passengers, no pets are allowed.
* Tickets must be purchased two hours in advance of departure time through the Tourist offices in Kirkwall and Stromness. Last minute call-in or walk-ons cannot be guaranteed as the boat books up quickly. Group discounts over 10 persons are available (please contact us directly).
* Tour times and duration are subject to variation as we are dependent on weather and mechanical considerations.Phone 01856 811309 for a daily update.
* The ‘Guide’ and it’s Skipper and crew adhere to all marine codes of safety. It is a Class VI passenger vessel licensed to take up to 40 passengers and has been surveyed and found to comply with all the provisions of the Merchant Shipping Acts for a Class VI passenger ship. The Skipper, Keith Bichan has a Boatmaster Class 2 License and has 20 years practical experience in skippering boats.
* Awarded three star Scottish Tourist Board Visitor Attraction. Winner of Highly Commended awards from the British Archaeological Awards and Vision in Business for the Environment. Featured on television shows: “Wish You Were Here”, “Scotland the Wild” and “BBC Holiday” programme.
