BLACKBERRIES.....
I haven’t got much knitting done lately. I’ve been walking the long shady trails of the Paulding forest looking for blackberries.
We found them in a small clearing, ripening in a patch of bright sun. Needless to say they were the sweetest berries I’ve every had in my life. I could taste the sun and every wild thing in each bite.
BEADS......
Then there was the day trip to Athens with my mother and sister. I brought my knitting with me, but found myself staring out the window for the whole length of the trip. What did I see? Miles of fields covered in kudzu, an occasional billboard with “Jesus” printed in large bold letters, dairy farms and horses grazing in open pastures.
My sister’s jewelry is on display at Nourish, a small boutique a few blocks from the center of town. One of her pieces were also featured in a regional magazine, Southern Distinction. Her jewelry is also on sale online at Mandala Jewels.
After visiting Nourish, we admired the wide shady streets of downtown Athens. a tasty vegetarian lunch at The Grit and of course, the bead shops.
KNITTING.......
Kusha Kusha is cast on. I decided to knit it on one needle, size 6. The pattern directions require changing needle sizes throughout the length of the scarf. Love the fabric created by the stainless steel silk, and kidsilk mohair.
ROADTRIP....
Tomorrow we head north for my husband’s family reunion. I plan on getting a lot of knitting done along the way, but even now as I pack my bag, knitting has some serious competition. Along with my current two knitting projects, Muir and Kusha, I unreasonably packed six books in my car tote! If I take one book out, I end up putting another book in its place.
PROJECTS......
I’ve also been looking at paint chips for the craft room. Honey dew melon green is number one so far. ( another project among the thousands) With that in mind I unwrapped my warping board that has lived most of its beautiful life in storage bins and garages. Well, no more. I’ve finally decided to put it to use. I’ve wanted to learn how to weave for years. Weaving classes start in the fall. I want to be ready. Once the room is painted, it goes up on the wall.
Like I said in my previous post, “more projects” is my middle name these days. This is only the tip of the iceberg, but I cannot bring myself to mention one more thing here for fear I may start getting “overwhelmed”.
