Knitting Weather

I’ve been pulling myself in multiple directions lately and my crafting space reflects my mind
space perfectly.  My sewing machine is out along with a plethora of scrap fabrics, the ball winder is up ready to prepare for a new knitting project, beads are scattered everywhere, 8 books are stacked in a neat pile on the night stand and the leaves are changing outside the window calling me to walk in the woods.

I don’t know if there is any clear winner.  I’ve been dibbling and dabbling in all directions, but there is something I’m crazy about lately that I want to share with you.  Yes, I’ve found a new lover.  He comes from Louet of America and his name is Mooi.  Mooi means “pretty” in Dutch.

I had read about him on Knitter’s Review, but I did not quite “get it” until I saw him resting on the shelves at Knitch in a variety of jewel-like colors.  At first sight I said to myself, “What a beauty”.  I picked him up and saw how he the caught the light even in a somewhat dimly lit room....and the texture?  Velvet.    Butter.   Lush!  I turned the skein in my hands and found the contents of his character:  Lace weight, 70% Bamboo (never knitted Bamboo-always wanted to try it), 15% cashmere (ahhh!), 15% Bison (Bison? hmmm interesting..)
Translation?  He will be faithful and durable while displaying a soft light filled tenderness. What more could I ask for?

After walking around the store for an hour (one can never be too picky when it comes to taking a “new one” home), I placed him in my basket.   It looks like its turning out to be a year of lace.  I want to say I’m knitting this for my cousin, but it will be extremely painful to let this one go.

Yesterday, I put on a pot of Lavender/Chamomile tea, played my favorite music and sat down at the table to look through Victorian Lace Today.  I haven’t decided on the pattern yet, but I’m leaning heavily towards the scarf with edging 21 and insertion 25.
