Trauma in the ER

November 5, 2008

On October 30th, I sat down at the computer and began to compose a post; however, to my chagrin, my blogging software crashed!  After fooling around with it for days, I finally decided it was time to take a trip to the Apple mother ship.    There are two dangerous places for me in the city of Atlanta,  Knitch and the Apple store.  I NEVER go to the apple store unless I know exactly what I want or need, because the damage can be devastating.  But there I was, sitting on a little black wooden stool at the Genius bar (Computer ER) pensively waiting for my appointment to begin.

In the meantime I looked around the store.  Somehow the economy is not effecting business here. I saw young TEENagers with iphones!  The continuous hum of cash registers were actually a source of white noise.  Customers constantly streamed through the doors and circled the Mac book display tables like sharks circling prey, while  the worried depressed and frustrated sat at the genius bar hoping to hear the words -“It’s not the hard drive”.

The extremely polite consierge informed me that they were running late on appointments that day so at one point in time,  I also found myself at one of the display tables for the ipod touch.  For the first
time, I held its cool slim body in my hot little hands and played with the icons, but it was the amazingly clear video feature that pulled me in deep.  Out of no where the brain starts to talk, saying things like,..... “ I think I could actually watch a missed show of Gray’s Anatomy on this thing!”...  and.... “Wouldn’t it be nice to have my Ravelry info right at my fingertips when I visit the yarn store.” I began to feel my eyes widen while watching Meridith cry for the upteenth time on the tiny ipod screen.  I suddenly realized I had taken on the look of the sharks I had observed just a few minutes ago and was seriously thinking about making an impulse purchase.   However; just in a nick of time I was saved, not once, but twice, by the gorgeous blue-eyed surgeon who called my name and back to the Genius bar I went.

Unfortunately, I had to leave my baby overnight for more extensive surgery.  In the process she lost some vital parts-like all the September posts and some of the lovely comments made by visitors. They claimed it was nothing I did-just one of those things and let me go without paying a dime.  So just in case anyone was wondering what happen to September.....Well?....-May she rest in peace.
