Maybe she’s trying to tell me something...

April 9, 2008

Her favorite place these days is on top of my current project.  All it takes is for me to walk away one minute to get a cup of coffee or check the mailbox and...there you have it.   I’m tired of fighting with her.  Who can fight with a pink nose wearing kitty cat anyway.

So I’ve gotten a little side tracked by books.  I am reading” The Knitting Sutra” for the second time.  My mind is in an entirely different place from the first reading and I’ve found this book to be even more intriguing this time around.  This moved me to purchase Susan’s last book, “Knitting Heaven and Earth”, which was written during the last days of her life.  She passed away in 2005.  The last chapter brought me to tears.  It was like a good-bye letter.  Out of all the books listed below I find Susan’s books on knitting the most inspiring and thought provoking.  There is something organic and thick about knitting through serious personal crisis.  I was moved by how knitting sustained her in those times.

In the Queue

The gathered pullover is almost finished so I’m starting to think about the next victim.  “More lace” says the brain.  I’ve always liked Romi’s Muir.  It’s been sitting in my queue on Ravelry for months.  During a recent visit to her website I’ve found that she is in the process of revising the pattern to include beading.   This has made me love this wrap even more!  I tend to be a little flighty when it comes to the choosing new projects, but I think this is the next one.  I’m dreaming of it in purple.  Don’t you just love that blue sky with the lace blowing through it?

And finally....April marks the first anniversary of this blog.  I can’t believe I actually stuck with it for a year!  I surprise myself.
