32 Flavors and Then Some

32 Flavors and Then Some

What do Pearl the Landlord, “Leave Britney Alone”, Quarterlife and the (dearly departed) LonelyGirl15 have in common with the British Royal Family???
YouTube.
MSNBC reported this morning that England’s Queen Elizabeth now has her own YouTube channel. How cool is that?
I watched The Royal Channel just now, which has among other videos, the first Christmas message from the Queen broadcast on television - 50 years ago. The 2007 Christmas message will be posted there at 3 PM GMT (which I think will be about 11 AM here). I will try and watch it to see if she makes reference to her embrace of this new technology.
I’m reminded of that one scene from the movie The Queen as I was watching these things - where Elizabeth and her mother, out on a walk, lamenting how “out of touch” they feel with their populace. The reigning monarch whines to her mother (if one can call it that), “Maybe it’s time to hand it over to the next generation.”
Not hand it over maybe, but now walk hand in hand perhaps.

I won’t just be a president, but also a client.

Here’s a reason I am not getting any presents for Christmas this year:
As we turned on to our street after church and the grocery store, I see East Windsor FD trucks parked on the side of the street opposite our courtyard. Naturally, Mom and I both think the worst, and say a silent prayers that our worse thoughts are not really coming to pass.
They weren’t. It was Father Christmas himself, making visits to the development.
In my frustration, the words “Freakin’ Santa!” slipped from my lips, and I immediately went from the “Nice” list to the “Naughty” list.
