32 Flavors and Then Some

32 Flavors and Then Some

I’ve been out indulging in the end of my semester and holiday merriment, specifically parties (my office job and the MoMA; missed the Pratt-SILS holiday party due to a scheduling conflict), and shopping (shamelessly admitting that most of it was for me). The Life of Little Responsibility and Great Amounts of Socialiteness is a fun one, I must admit.
As The Byrds (and the Book of Ecclesiastes) said, To everything, turn turn turn, there is a season, turn, turn, turn - my turn as Party Girl is over for Christmas 2007. After tripping in the parking lot of the development in my first and only pair of thigh high boots, resulting in a very bloody and painful gash to my left knee that has made walking rather painful, I have realized that (a) I cannot be a career socialite and do this partying business on a regular basis, and (b) I am eternally grateful for realization of that fact. I like comfortable shoes and pants with elastic, and I like them a little too much to give them up for The Glamorous Life.
Visited the new NYC Apple store in the retail madness (present to self this year was the 80G iPod Classic and Radio Remote); very lovely and I will probably frequent it more than the Fifth Avenue location. Rumors are starting that Apple is taking over the Upper West Side (on the site where a Victoria’s Secret is presently located). Can iLingerie or the iBra be far off???
I am more than ready for the holidays, and the short work weeks this week and next. Celebrations, albeit on a more low key level than earlier in the month, are much needed.
I will be starting up a new blog by the end of this year, specifically to talk about the library profession and library science studies. Library blogs are growing in numbers and becoming more commonplace (source) and as a longtime blogger, I want to be at the forefront of this change in the way we talk about information practices.
At the same time, I want to keep discussions of the implications of RDA separate from rants about how my Tivo seems to love love LOVE recording any program on the Disney Channel.
Thus, please join me in celebration of the birth of The Garden State Librarian. (Let’s see how long I can keep both of these up.)
Also, enjoy photos of Rockefeller Center and MoMA’s Holiday Party, as viewed on my Flickr page. I’ll put a few favorites up here on separate pages in the coming days.
It’s time to go ice my knee down.
In Which I Realize I Could Never Be a Career Socialite, And For That Am Eternally Grateful
