Alarm goes off at 4:30am.  ugh.  Head out to Carrollton.  Get there, get out of the car, its 45 degrees out.  WHAT?!?  Brrr.  Was not expecting this.  Thank god for the wetsuit.  Wait around, set up transition, get nervous, get cold, get colder.  Then, finally, get started.  Swim was the roughest I’ve ever been in.  Got swum over, kicked, swallowed a ton of water, was so out of breath, I had to do breaststroke about  5 times to calm down.  Not fun.  600 yards later, I am done. (Around 12 mins.  I think.  Results aren’t posted yet, so not 100% sure.)  Onto the bike.  Bike was great.  Jill (above in the middle) passed me about a mile into it, and I know she’s a better rider than me, so I just tried to stay with her.  Couldn’t believe that I was passing people.  Definitely not my M.O. on the bike, usually the other way around.  Finish the bike and throw my shoes on (no socks!  thanks for the tip, Lauren).  Head out for the 5K.  Nice, slightly hilly run.  Was starting to feel a little tired.  Counting the miles down and counting the women ahead of me.  Nice distractions from the pain.  Sprints do not feel so good.  Finish the run in 20:33 (I think).  So happy with that, almost my best 5K time for a stand alone race.  :)  Finished the whole thing in 1:08/9 something, I think.  4th in my age group when I left, but I might have moved up if one of the girls ahead of me got an overall spot.  We’ll see....also I saw the race marshalls behind me at one point, so maybe I got a penalty, too?  It was pretty crowded out there, so I may have drafted unintentionally.
Fun race.  Love to do some more once CDA is done.  Home by lunchtime, can’t beat that.

Congrats to Michelle for her 1st place in her age group!  (above left)
Lauren and Matt -- you guys were awesome!  so loud out there, thanks!

Had a nice dinner at Pure with Mike after to celebrate his 12 mile run and my race.  Pic below is us enjoying our margaritas.  MMMmmmm.  They are so good.
