This Cooper’s Hawk has been visiting our backyard for more than five years. Each year she and her mate make a nest in a nearby tree. In all but one year the pair has successfully fledged four youngsters. At times we have six hawks in our yard: mom, dad, and and the four fledglings. They all love water. The adults use the bird bath and the youngsters run through the sprinklers. They then fly to a tree and dry off in the sun.
