About Myself I began painting in 1996, I am a I self taught artist. When I decided this was what I wanted to do with my life, I began by actually replicating the works of artists whose work I was drawn to, the impressionist painters, Monet, Degas, Manet, Renoir........putting my interpretation of their work on pieces of furniture. They became my teachers. Over time my own personal style began to develop, but I think their influence is still visible in my work. A contributing artist since 2001 * 2006-The Lincoln Park Academy Zora Neal Hurston Media Center in Ft. Pierce was reopened officially Tuesday after it had been destroyed in the 2004 hurricane season. Some 17,000 volumes, destroyed by the hurricanes and the effects of mold, have been replaced and added, too, bringing the total of volumes to 25,000 in the newly refurbished media center. Some of those books can be seen here, reflected in a circular mirror gracing one of the walls along with a newly-painted portrait of Hurston (at right) by artist Karen Hetzer.
