Each student will be given a handout of information and shown examples of the required uniforms at an assembly tentatively scheduled for April 3rd, 2008. All uniforms must follow these regulations with regard to unacceptable items . . .

NO blue jeans or denim of any color

NO camouflage

NO bell bottoms

NO denim overalls

NO weapons (student will be provided with a replica gun)

NO tennis shoes

NO satin/silk shirts

NO sweatshirts

Union Uniforms

What is acceptable . . .

UNION BLUE

Shirt: Long sleeve and solid blue. The shirt must have a collar. Cotton/flannel will be most comfortable and a dark or navy blue is preferred.

Pants: Usually a lighter blue in color, held up by suspenders. Variations of blue are also acceptable. Dress code pants are fine.

Hat: Union Kepi.

Shoes: Any pair of black/dark boots or shoes (avoid obvious looking sneakers).

Socks: To be authentic, wear long wool socks, blue or black in color.

Canteen or disguised water bottle: a must due to likelihood of high temperatures.

Haversack: a bag, preferably made of a natural fiber, to carry snacks and supplies. Carried slung over a shoulder.

Uniform Information for Union Soldiers

* Black or brown belt – tinware, pouches, etc. attached

* Solid color wool blanket – carried slung over a shoulder by rope

* Tin cup

* Union Jacket

* Uniform adornments such as stripes, medals, buckles, insignia, braids, etc.

* Vest

* Binoculars

* Suspenders

What is acceptable . . .

UNION ZOUAVE

Pants: RED sweat pants, worn at calve length with long, dark blue socks. Supplied by Mr. Hambly.

Hat: Red fez. Fez caps will be made by each student, see Mr. Hambly for details.
