Uniform Information for Confederate Soldiers
Confederate Uniforms
Each student will be given a handout of information and shown examples of the required uniforms at an assembly on April 3rd, 2008. All uniforms must follow these regulations with regard to unacceptable items . . .
NO blue jeans or denim of any color
NO camouflage
NO bell bottoms
NO denim overalls
NO weapons (student will be provided with a replica gun)
NO tennis shoes
NO satin/silk shirts
NO sweatshirts
What is acceptable . . .
Confederate GRAY
Shirt: Long sleeve and solid gray. The shirt must have a collar. Cotton/flannel will be most comfortable.
Pants: Usually a gray color, held up by suspenders. Variations of brown are also acceptable.
Hat: Confederate Kepi.
Shoes: Any pair of black/dark boots or shoes (avoid obvious looking sneakers).
Socks: To be authentic, wear long wool socks, gray or brown in color.
Canteen or disguised water bottle: a must due to likelihood of high temperatures.
Haversack: a bag, preferably made of a natural fiber, to carry snacks and supplies. Carried slung over a shoulder.
What is acceptable . . .

Pants: Usually a tan color, held up by suspenders. Variations of khaki are also acceptable. Dress code pants are acceptable.
Hat: Confederate Kepi or slouch hat.
Shoes: Any pair of black/dark boots or shoes (avoid obvious looking sneakers).
Socks: To be authentic, wear long wool socks, gray or brown in color.

Potential additions that will earn a higher grade include . . .
* Black or brown belt: tinware, pouches, etc. attached
* Solid color wool blanket: carried slung over a shoulder by rope
* Tin cup
* Confederate jacket
* Uniform adornments such as stripes, medals, buckles, insignia, braids, etc.
* Vest
* Binoculars
* Suspenders
