But you may recall that my whole point here was overcoming the “failure” phenomenon, so on I go and perhaps I can do better during the second half of this month.
I took this guerrilla photo of a hinge in a restroom at the Church Street Café in Albuquerque’s Old Town. It holds an old window over a nicho in the wall.
Old Town is not called that for nothing. The house in which the café is located was built in the early 1700’s, and more amazing, was occupied by members of the same family until 1991!
So, that hinge has seen some challenges, and each time has been repaired in a new way - see all the different types of screws? I just love the “story” here.
I also think of this photo as a self portrait. I am like that hinge - although some would say there would be a screw or two loose.
All those different screws are like the different activities and challenges that make up my life, and so far, it all holds together.
What I have been learning. . .
I really like blogging as a publishing medium, but I seem to be formulating rules for it - as I do with everything. (Must be that Catholic School upbringing?)
It is tempting to just throw just anything up here on those days when time just gets away and I don’t have the energy left to say anything profound. But I am finding that content is important to me, and my idea of what “content” should be is in a constant state of evolution.
And, amazingly, adding this extra activity to a schedule that is already bursting its seams (and gardening season hasn’t even started yet!) has had a focusing effect on my art life. It’s like a funnel somehow, that is slowly but surely shuffling my deck and putting things in better order.
What do you think?
I am really curious how you feel about this new form of publishing. Have you set up your own blog? If so, what do you expect it to do for you? What do you hope it will do for your readers?
If you have no inclination toward blogging yourself, what do you like about reading blogs? What are you looking for? What are your favorite types of posts?
I find this subject fascinating and would love to hear your comments. Let’s talk.
