I have heard from many people in my life lately that seem to find it difficult to read God’s Word. And if I am being honest, I can see the very same thing in my life. I go through seasons of my life where it is so easy to set aside time to dive into the scriptures, and then there are other times where it is a struggle to read through passages.
I am sure that not everyone will be able to relate to me in this. But for those who can, you are not alone, and I have found something that helps me.
I have found that it is all in the way that I read...
The Bible is my Life Manual....
It contains the answers to the most difficult of life’s problems. It provides us with practical how-to advice for our everyday lives, and it gives us the step-by-step instructions to get through life’s toughest situations.
In a way, it is similar to the manual in the glovebox of my car. It has all the answers to all the questions that I could ever ask...BUT, I only seem to open my manual when something is wrong with my vehicle. In a very similar way, this is exactly how I read my Bible sometimes and although the Bible is my Life Manual, I believe that it must also be more....
The Bible is the Ultimate Textbook...
It spans over thousands and thousands of years, and it is 100% accurate. It gives us glimpses into the past, and provides insight into the future. In it’s pages we read about how the world began and how eternity will look. We read about the rise and fall of the great civilizations of our human history, and I can’t say this enough...
IT IS 100% ACCURATE,
miraculously preserved through thousands of years.
This is incredible. However, as I read through the Bible like this, found something about myself; I am not always “in the mood” for historical reading. I know that might sound bad, but hey...I am just keeping it real here.
I believe there is still something more to our Bible...
The Bible provides us with the Perfect Image of God...
In the pages of my Bible I can read countless stories of my God. I read stories of his interaction with man, and I get a greater view of His character with every passage that I read.
In reading the scripture in this way, I have found out something else about myself; I never seem to get tired of learning more about my God, His personality, and the amazing way that He deals with man. I find myself overwhelmed...alot. My God is real, and I am reading stories about him. Oh and the greatest thing about it is, this amazing God is the same God that I am in relationship with today.
The Bible is amazing, and I find myself falling in love with God all over again every time I read it.
If you find it difficult to read the Bible at times, I think that asking yourself these questions might help you in the same way that it helped me...
“How do I read the Bible?”
“Do I only read it one way?”
“Can I, or should I read it in a different way?”
I also challenge myself to try to learn something new about God every time I read His Word.
I hope this helps!
