Quick Look
Thursday 15 November 2007
So I’ve been using Leopard now for a little over two weeks and it just gets better and better. I am totally loving the new “Quick Look” feature, which I find to be a great asset in searching for files on my hard drives. My current set up is I am running two external hard disk drives on my 120GB MacBook Pro. One is a WD My Book 500GB and the other is a LaCie 250GB which I have dedicated to Time Machine. The ability to view the contents of a file without having to launch the application is a huge advantage and really speeds up time.
However, last night I found something that just blew me away. While looking through my e-mails I discovered that Quick Look also allows you to preview attachments in Mail. When you open an e-mail with an attachment in Mail two buttons appear beside the attached file. One is the save attachment button, which was always there, but now there is a new Quick Look button which, when clicked gives you a Quick Look style preview of the attached file. No need to wait for the program to launch (although you do miss the bouncy icon in the dock).
Another simple, yet wonderful, touch from the Development Team at Apple. Keep up the good work folks.
