At Gallery 10 for October
“The Goddess Wears Prada: Stages of a Journey” is the provocative title of the Jerry Kidd exhibit as Gallery 10’s featured artist for October. Kidd’s longtime artistic theme of giving expression to the feminine as the creative impetus in the universe comes down to earth in this new collection. He has used local models for undertaking a visual examination of woman’s stages of growth.
Kidd’s paintings are largely within the expressionist genre. His colors are vibrant and often arbitrary in nature. The images contain the potent feminine symbols of the serpent, the moon and the Nordic Rune writings. These works are visually stimulating and mentally challenging.
Kidd has been an artist for the past 40 years. He received an MFA from California College of Arts and Crafts and took to teaching for five years at Shasta College before entering the real world of art. Kidd’s studio has been located in Pine Grove since 1984. He is also known internationally for his welded aluminum mythical trees and landscapes, created with a technique he devised which is totally unique.
A reception, catered by Susan’s Place, will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2-4 p.m at Gallery 10. Please come by and meet Jerry and see his extraordinary work.
