From Tower to Trenches:
Bridging Academia and the Real World

Welcome to my website! Many of you know me from my years with the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of Washington. Although I am now officially retired from the University, I am not retiring from the world of work. This website is a step towards creating a way to communicate and, I hope, continue discussion of issues close to my heart.

My ideas are ahead of my technological know-how, so please have patience while I learn about websites, links, blogs, videos, and (some day) podcasts. This website is a work in progress, which of course is a great metaphor for just about everything we do.

I’ve started my blog, which you can get to with the “blog” link at the top of this page or by clicking on Blog below. You can read about Tower to Trenches in the blog and about my move into my new life. I’ve also started The Lecture Circuit, where I write lecture and commentary about professional topics.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I lost my counter, and tech problems conspire to keep it gone.  So now I have no way of knowing if anyone is reading my entries...unless you leave me a comment.     Maybe just “hello”?
