CCBD Council for Cultural and Biological Diversity
Centro Intercultural Yanapuma
Centro Intercultural Yanapuma is located on the eastern most edge of the Llanganati Sangay Biological Corridor, gift to the earth number 81 as declared by WWF. We are situated in between Sangay and Llanganati National Parks at the gateway to the Ecuadorian Amazon, just out of the town of Shell.
Centro Yanapuma is a project in its early stage. We hope this to become an important nexus and center for auspicious projects to occurre that wlll benefit the region through offering new opportunities to local communities. The vision includes using the center as an information center for the national parks as well as on the seven indigenous nationalities present in the area. Traditional foods are for sale as well as a direct outlet for indigenous artisans.
Our intentions are to develop long term process that give work in a sustainable way to local peoples. With the message of environmental and cultural awareness and preservation. The center is also the ideal location for our Guayusa Tea Harvesters Cooperative.
Our staff is a small but committed team. We hope over time this project will grow to become an important and much needed ¨hub¨ so to say, for the region. Funds are needed to establish the center. Please contact us for a grant proposal.
