CCBD’s efforts are focused on enacting rainforest conservation projects, supporting indigenous peoples traditional education systems and seeking out new venues for sustainability. These initiatives are focused in the Tropical Andes Biodiversity Hotspot in Ecuador. We also conduct conservation and environmental education projects in the Mesoamerica Biodiversity Hotspot on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica.
CCBD was founded by Jonathon Miller-Weisberger, an ethnobotanist who has worked in the Upper Amazon since 1990 and Paul Malo Pozo a native of southern Ecuador who has worked on conservation projects for the past 15 years. Visit the Archival Reports and Octo-Blog for articles and reports of their experiences in the field and latest project updates.
CCBD’s annual Amazonian Adventure tours are unique opportunities to visit the rainforest and the indigenous people we work with. All proceeds after expenses go to supporting rainforest conservation, community initiatives and assistance to the traditional elders.
