We’re off to see the Celtic Realms again!
Beginning Tuesday, June 9 we’ll board the National Geographic Explorer for a curise of the British and Irish Isles, traveling the wild western coasts, visiting many of the great sites of Celtic (and Viking) history. We begin in Portsmouth, England, stopping by Dartmouth on our way the Isles of Scilly before heading up the Atlantic Coast of Ireland with stops in Dingle and the Aran Islands. If we are lucky we’ll get a stop at the legendary, remote Skellig Michael and the equally remote St. Kilda off the coast of Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, seen in the first image above from last year’s trip. And after our stop in Lewis to see the Callanish Stones we’ll head around the north coast of Scotland for Orkney, Shetland and even a stop in Fair Isles.
I’ll be uploading pictures of our travels as we go along from on board the Explorer (the Gods of the Internet willing). So check by every day or so for the latest on this grand adventure.
P.S. You can also see my map of all my travels around the world on Flickr here.
