An exploration of Down syndrome
The quote above is an excerpt from an essay written by Dr. Down in the mid 18th century; an essay that described phenotypically, the appearance of a child with Down syndrome. Of course back then it was referred to as mongolism. Imagine that until the 1980’s, that term was still in wide use, both medically and among the lay public.
