Parkland Conservation

Visualize an adequately dredged Lake Worth surrounded by generous parkland with hike and bike, as well as equestrian, trails all connected to existing and/or future planned trails within the city.

Accordingly, an integral part of the mission of the Lake Worth Alliance is to advocate for the preservation and conservation of the many hundreds of acres of undeveloped, Fort Worth city-owned green space surrounding Lake Worth.

It’s important to understand that this land is already owned by the City. Simply, the City can preserve this land for the future by not utilizing it for other purposes, e.g. sale to developers or for drilling sites. Any expenses associated with this conservation will be funded by Barnett Shale-related revenue as capital projects, not by tax dollars.

Lake Worth Alliance will be providing more information soon regarding activities in support of the above initiatives.

The map below shows current parkland in Yellow and potential parkland in Purple. (Note below that there is a particularly large area South and Southwest consisting of approximately 400 acres, adjacent to “West Regional Park,” shown in Yellow.) See the Legend for specific details.
