NEWS & INFORMATION

The goals of Lake Worth Alliance are simply stated:

1. To get Lake Worth cleaned and dredged.

  1. 2.To preserve undeveloped, city-owned land around Lake Worth for future parkland.

See Mission Statement.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT

January 11, 2008

Fort Worth City Council’s formal vote on January 8, 2008 to approve M&C G-16013, “Adoption” of Amendments to the Gas Well Revenues Distribution Policy of the City of Fort Worth,” was profoundly significant for the future of the Lake Worth Area. And although much remains to be done toward the vision of Lake Worth becoming a clean and adequately deep lake surrounded by hundreds of acres of undeveloped green space and parkland, we-Lake Worth Alliance leadership-are feeling pretty good.  We’re very proud to have played a part in where we are today. And really, everyone who’s been involved can and should be proud.

For specific information about gas revenue policy and distribution, click here to read M&C G-16103. Section 4, i. contains language most relevant to our interests out here. “All revenue derived from Water and Sewer assets will be appropriated fifty percent (50%) to Water and Sewer capital projects fund. Notwithstanding the above, funds from Water and Sewer property and park land located in and around Lake Worth (except the Nature Center and Refuge) shall be designated for qualified expenditures in the development and execution of the 2007 Lake Worth Capital Improvements Implementation Plan, until such time as the plan projects are completed.”

So, Bravo!! That’s for all who’ve “caught the vision.” That’s for Fort Worth Mayor Moncrief and City Council - especially Carter Burdette - City Staff, the media and the thousands who’ve supported this initiative.  It IS exciting.  And thanks, too, Barnett Shale.  You’ll be making this and a lot of other good and necessary things possible.  Yes, indeed, we WILL have a truly world-class park out here.
