Updates on Lake Worth Capital Improvements Implementation Project
April 7, 2008
The Fort Worth Water Department has selected Freese and Nichols Inc. as their consultant on the Lake Worth CIIP. Both Freese and Nichols and Carter and Burgess submitted proposals for the design of the Lake Worth CIIP. Freese and Nichols was found to have the best understanding of the project scope, best project management approach, best documented ability to meet project schedules and best public outreach program.

The Water Department staff will now begin negotiating the final contract scope and fee.  Once this is completed, the recommendation for award of contract will be sent to the City Council for approval in late May of 2008.

March 12, 2008
On Friday, March 7, the Fort Worth Water Department received two proposals from engineering companies in response for the request for proposals for the Design of the Lake Worth Dredging Project.  The companies submitting proposals were Freese & Nichols and Carter & Burgess.  The Water Department and Department of Engineering will review the proposals and forward a recommendation to the Water Department Director by the end of March. Once a consultant is selected, the staff will negotiate a contract price and forward a recommendation to the City Council for award of contract. The recommendation should be before the City Council by the middle of May. The actual design work should begin in June.

As with the recently completed Lake Worth Capital Improvements Implementation Plan, the design contract calls for a number of public meetings to be held to allow for public involvement in the design process. The Water Department will send out notices of the meetings once the scheduled is developed.
