The Mystery of Life

Just a short composition, a work in progress really. Its a little weird in that I’m using a 14 measure structure. The guitar parts were recorded on my new Paul Reed Smith Custom 24, which has so much sustain I actually had to fade out a note at the end of the distorted guitar section because it resonated almost to the end of the song. Ridiculous! That same distorted section is played by rubbing the pick back and forth along the very end of the A string near the bridge, all Satriani-like.

This took about 3 hours to write and record. It began with the bass beat over a drum loop and then I added in the hi hat backing and rearranged the drum loops a bit.

If you haven’t guessed, the bass cadence is a heartbeat.
