Product Photography
24.08.2009
I've been doing a lot of product photography, or packshots as its also called in my studio at the Dinamo "Ranch". This has proven to be a great way to improve my lighting skills and get better and better as things progress.

I shoot on a Manfrotto still life table with white frosted plexiglass that I can shoot a +2 stop light through to separate the objects from the background and float them. I'm well equipped to do any kind of still life shoot here with both lights, flags and reflectors.

In adition I'm packing all sorts of effects like dew spray, droplets, ice cubes, fog, smoke, frost even beer foam and fake ice cream.

I shoot either tethered to a computer which gives me complete control over the camera and allows me to fine tune both light and focus before I shoot through live view. Both cameras I use are equipped with wifi transmitters so I can do an untehered shoot and get the images transferred to the computer as I shoot - very convenient to check light and focus again, but it also gives the client, if present, a view of the shoot as it progresses.

I'll be posting some examples in the portfolio section soon...
