IN THE COMING DAYS I AM OFF TO RAVELLO ON THE BEAUTIFUL AMALFI COAST DOWN IN THE BAY OF NAPLES IN ITALY TO PHOTOGRAPH THE WEDDING OF LISA & JAMES. I’M SURE IT’S GOING TO BE LOTS OF FUN BUT ALSO A LITTLE STRANGE AS MY WIFE AND I SPENT A DAY OR TWO THERE WHILE ON HONEYMOON SOME YEARS AGO AND I DON’T SEEM TO REMEMBER MUCH ABOUT IT APART FROM THE STUNNING LOCATION AND THE AWESOME VERTIGO-INDUCING CLIFF-TOPS...

WELL, HERE IS THE START OF A NEW BLOG FOR THE MAIN WEBSITE - BEING A NOTORIOUSLY BAD DIARY KEEPER IN THE PAST IT IS CERTAINLY GOING TO BE A CHALLENGE KEEPING IT GOING BUT I’M GOING TO GIVE IT MY BEST SHOT. HOPE YOU ENJOY.

Well...just returned from the wedding of Lisa & James at Villa Cimbrone in the very glamourous town of Ravello in Italy. If ever there was a more stunning location to get married then this is it - Villa Cimbrone was pretty amazing and had all the romance and nostalgia of the jazz age - just don’t go too close to the edge on the Belvedere Terrace as it may make your head spin a little when looking down at the sheer drop of a few hundred metres or more. To add to the glamour of it all there were a couple of Hollywood A-Listers staying in Ravello in the name of Edward Norton and Woody Harrelson who apparently were on a serious Yoga break - they were spied on the next but one table in a restaurant in the main square as we took a little light refreshment after the arriving from the toils of Napoli airport...

As there were one or two other weddings happening in Ravello I’ve included an image or two from a full blown authentic Italian wedding - some of the styles and look of the guests are much imitated (and some aren’t) back in Blighty but somehow when it comes down to it you’ve just gotta be Italian to get away with them...

Lisa & James

I think you know what I mean...even the local wedding photographers cut a dash in a white jacket / skin tight zip strides combo shooting with camera to eye and cigarette dangling James Dean-like from the lips whilst sipping the occasional Bellini...

Julie & Mathijs

5th July 2008

It must be the time for the smaller, more compact weddings as Lisa & James’ wedding in Ravello was with a very cosy 42 guests  - but Julie & Mathijs’ celebrations at Hever Castle beat that easily with 21 guests (including 7 children !) which made for a very cosy dining room on a lovely sunny July evening. One thing I haven’t seen before is the cutting of the cake immediately after the ceremony which brought out the look of confusion in some quarters but it looked to be going down very well once all sliced up & the champagne was served...
