Maricel was a member of our community who was very shy and quiet, was OK with being in the background, but was as dependable as a Swiss clock. Come prayer meetings or a weekend, you could be sure that Maricel would be there. She was working in the financial accounting department of Shell Exploration in Manila prior to that she had taken an MBA in the US and was working for Northwest Airlines in cold Minneapolis. I got to know her a bit better because her work took her to Singapore a lot and we would have meals together. She also joined me and Pabs in one of my missions to Mindoro (thus the picture). We took our bath in a fresh river, and this explains the shampoo on Pab’s head.
Maricel was bogged down earlier this year with a lot of internal politics in work that really stressed her out and put her Christian values to a test. She decided to take an offer to work for her company in Houston and has been there since August. I will miss her but will continue to pray for her. I hope Maricel that you will continue to grow in your journey of live and be blessed with good friends and better colleagues in your new environment. I also pray that you find your “Drew” one day (see Bubbles’ entry). Keep in touch!
